　　所謂"食"就是指一個(gè)天體被另一個(gè)天體或其黑影全部或部分掩遮的天文景象。日食主要有日全食、日偏食及日環(huán)食三種。日食發(fā)生的原理是地球上的局部地區(qū)被月影所遮蓋而造成的。日食必發(fā)生在朔日，即農(nóng)歷的初一(朔)。這是因?yàn)橹挥性谀且惶�，月亮才�?huì)出現(xiàn)在太陽(yáng)與地球之間的連線上，這樣才有可能使月球擋住太陽(yáng)而形成日食。同樣地，月食一定出現(xiàn)在望日，即農(nóng)歷十五。

　　大家可能會(huì)問(wèn)，為什么不是每個(gè)月的初一都會(huì)有日食，還有，為什么不是每個(gè)月的十五都會(huì)有月食呢？這是因?yàn)槌�了上面的條件外，影響日食和月食出現(xiàn)的還有其他一些因素。我們把地球圍繞太陽(yáng)公轉(zhuǎn)的軌道稱為黃道，把月球圍繞地球公轉(zhuǎn)的軌道稱為白道。黃道平面與白道平面不是相同的，它們之間平均有5°09′的夾角，并且隨時(shí)發(fā)生變化。只有當(dāng)月球運(yùn)行到黃道和白道的升交點(diǎn)和降交點(diǎn)附近時(shí)，才會(huì)發(fā)生日食。
